South Dakota Safety Council’s Fall Protection Authorized Person Course
South Dakota Safety Council Schedules Fall Protection and Scaffolding Courses
Any worker exposed to fall hazards needs the right knowledge to stay safe, and the South Dakota Safety Council reported details for its continuing education programs covering essential safety competencies for working at height.
The safety organization outlined curriculum requirements for professionals operating in environments where gravity presents daily risks. According to course outlines published by the South Dakota Safety Council, participants learn fundamental best practices designed for application across multiple industries.
The half-day classroom instruction blends core concepts with hands-on practice, including harness fitting. That practical segment ensures attendees retain critical knowledge regarding equipment use and limitation.
South Dakota Safety Council Offers Fall Protection Training
Course options span specific operational requirements for high-altitude work. The Fall Protection Authorized Person program runs for four hours, providing a clear overview of fall protection components, proper use, and operational limitations.
According to the South Dakota Safety Council course directory, the organization also schedules instruction for a Fall Protection Competent Person. That curriculum covers hazard recognition, determinations on when fall protection systems are mandatory, and implementation methods.
Additional training covers the Scaffolding Competent Person standard. OSHA’s Subpart L for Scaffold Systems prohibits the erection, modification, and dismantling of scaffold systems except under the control of the Competent Person.
Membership Status Determines Registration Costs and Refund Rules
Pricing varies depending on organizational membership status. Members pay $185.00 plus tax, while nonmembers pay $245.00 plus tax for the training sessions.
Pre-registration and payment are required at the time of booking. The South Dakota Safety Council enforces a strict cancellation policy regarding these continuing education events.
Cancellations received at least three business days prior to an event receive a full refund. No refunds are issued for cancellations requested inside the three-day window, uncancelled registrations, or no-shows, though participant substitutions are accepted at any time.
The organization retains the right to cancel any scheduled session due to low enrollment or other operational circumstances. Registrants affected by council-initiated cancellations receive a full refund.
Fall Protection Certificates Expire After Two Years
Participants who successfully complete the training receive a certificate recognizing their knowledge of fall protection standards. That credential remains valid for a period of two years.
Recertification is strictly required following the expiration of the two-year period. While certain course modules are actively offered during the current term, the South Dakota Safety Council notes that future offerings depend on scheduled dates published through their catalog.
