Sony Bravia XR A80L Review: 83-Inch Cinematic TV

February 26, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Sony has released the 83-inch Bravia XR A80L, a smart television positioned as a premium home entertainment offering. The OLED television features Sony’s Cognitive Processor XR, designed to deliver enhanced picture quality, and Acoustic Surface Audio+, which integrates sound directly into the display.

The A80L is part of Sony’s 2023 Bravia XR TV line-up, which emphasizes the updated Cognitive Processor XR. This processor aims to provide a more natural and immersive viewing experience by analyzing content and optimizing picture and sound settings accordingly. The technology is intended to cross-analyze hundreds of thousands of on-screen elements and adjust contrast and color to deliver a more realistic image.

Reviewers have highlighted the A80L’s cinematic quality, noting its ability to upgrade the home viewing experience. The television utilizes OLED technology, known for its deep blacks and vibrant colors. The Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology further enhances the immersive experience by creating sound that appears to reach directly from the screen.

Comparisons have been drawn between the A80L and the Sony Bravia 8, with the A80L generally considered the superior model. The A80L offers improvements in picture processing and sound quality, building upon the foundation of the Bravia 8 series.

Currently, a deal is available offering savings of over $1,500 on the 83-inch Sony Bravia XR A80L smart TV, bringing a high-end cinematic experience to consumers at a reduced price point.
