Soda Stereo’s “Ecos”: Historic Reunion, Tech & Emotion | 2024 Tour
Buenos Aires – Soda Stereo launched its “Ecos” tour Saturday night at the Movistar Arena, marking a historic return for the iconic Latin American rock band. The performance featured original members Charly Alberti and Zeta Bosio alongside a digitally recreated image and sound of the band’s late frontman, Gustavo Cerati, utilizing advanced audio integration of his original recordings.
The concert, which drew a crowd of thousands, is not a tribute act, according to the band, but rather a technological and musical endeavor to reunite the trio’s sound. “Nos dimos cuenta de que Gustavo es irremplazable y que el único que lo puede reemplazar es él mismo,” (We realized that Gustavo is irreplaceable and the only one who can replace him is himself), stated Laura Cerati, Gustavo’s sister, according to reports. The indicate incorporated Cerati’s original voice and guitar tracks, avoiding the utilize of guest singers.
The “Ecos” tour began on March 21, 2026, and is scheduled to span three continents – South America, North America, and Europe – with stops in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, and Spain. Additional dates were added in Buenos Aires following high demand, with tickets going on sale March 23rd. The band performed multiple nights at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile, immediately following the Buenos Aires debut.
The performance included participation from a number of prominent musicians, including Marcelo Moura (Virus), Walas (Massacre), Leo García, Emiliano Brancciari (NTVG), and Alejandro Lerner. Despite the technological spectacle, Alberti and Bosio requested that audience members refrain from recording the show on their cell phones, encouraging a return to the experience of live music as it was enjoyed in the past.
The tour follows a previous reunion effort, “Gracias Totales,” between 2020 and 2022, where Alberti and Bosio performed with a rotating cast of guest musicians following Cerati’s death in 2014. The “Ecos” tour represents a different approach, aiming to recreate the original trio’s dynamic through technology. Approximately 500,000 tickets were sold throughout the region prior to the debut performance.
Currently, no festival appearances have been announced as part of the “Ecos” tour. The next scheduled performance is March 26th at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile.
