Slipknot Dismisses Lawsuit Over Slipknot.com Domain

Slipknot, the ⁢band, have⁤ dismissed a lawsuit they filed against the owner of Slipknot.com, a website not affiliated with the band that they claimed had been⁢ selling bootleg ⁢merchandise. Lawyers for the group, aka Slipknot, Inc.,⁣ stated the group “voluntarily ⁤dismisses this action without prejudice” ‌in paperwork filed ‍Wednesday, obtained by Rolling‍ Stone.

The band had accused the anonymous domain owner‌ of “cybersquatting.” Dismissing the suit “without prejudice” allows Slipknot to possibly revive ‌the case in the future. The group ‌originally filed‌ the ⁤suit ⁤“in rem,” meaning the‌ action was against the domain name⁢ itself.
