Skoda Peaq: First Drive of the New 7-Seat Electric SUV
Škoda to Launch Large Electric SUV, the Peaq, Alongside Epiq and ID. Models
Škoda is preparing to launch a new, large electric SUV called the Peaq in 2026, adding a seven-seater option to its growing electric vehicle lineup. The announcement comes as the Volkswagen Group brand prepares to introduce the smaller Epiq crossover and Volkswagen ID. Models, signaling a broader strategy to offer more affordable electric vehicles.
The Peaq, based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, will measure approximately 4.9 meters in length with a nearly 3-meter wheelbase. Škoda is positioning the vehicle as a flagship SUV, capable of accommodating up to seven passengers. With all seats in use, the Peaq offers 299 liters of boot space, expanding to a substantial 1,010 liters with the third row folded down. This represents a significant increase in cargo capacity compared to other Škoda models.
The vehicle features a new “Relax” package for front passengers, including reclining seats with integrated massage functions, a central table and an infotainment system with Sonos audio. The Peaq will also incorporate a 13.6-inch vertical touchscreen running Android Automotive, offering access to apps like Google Maps and YouTube, with the ability to download additional applications from an app store. A 10-inch digital instrument cluster is positioned on the steering column, and an optional head-up display with augmented reality is also available.
Škoda’s design language, “Modern Solid,” is evident in the Peaq’s exterior, featuring a streamlined profile with a straight roofline and vertical rear window to maximize interior space. The vehicle will be available with wheel sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches. Camouflage currently obscures specific design details, but the overall aesthetic aligns with the Škoda Vision 7S concept and the recently unveiled Epiq.
The Peaq will be offered with three powertrain options, delivering between 150 and 220 kW of power, and will achieve a range exceeding 600 km. The base models will be rear-wheel drive, with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version designated “90x” also available. The vehicle will support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing it to power external devices. Fast charging capabilities will enable a 10-80% charge in under 28 minutes using a DC connection.
Škoda plans to unveil the production version of the Peaq in the summer of 2026, with deliveries expected to begin in the autumn. Pricing and specific trim levels for the Italian market have not yet been announced.
