Six New Emergency Paramedics Join Märkischer Kreis Rescue Service
Six newly graduated emergency paramedics have joined the rescue service operations in the Märkischer Kreis. The graduates completed their 36-month training program at the Academy for Health Management and Seniors in Gummersbach, passing written, oral, and practical examinations that test both medical proficiency and high-stress resilience.
Three Years of Rigorous Training at AGewiS
The path to becoming a qualified emergency paramedic demands extensive preparation across clinical and theoretical disciplines. The 3-year curriculum combined classroom instruction at the Gummersbach academy with hands-on placements across regional rescue stations and hospital departments. Trainees also studied psychological and psychosocial competencies to manage high-pressure situations safely. Training coordinator Selattin Alptekin noted that the graduates demonstrated reliable decision-making capabilities throughout their intensive coursework and field deployments, stating: Herzlichen Glückwunsch zur bestandenen Ausbildung als Notfallsanitäter.
Deployment Across Regional Rescue Stations
The newly qualified professionals—identified as Maximilian Bohlmann, Enes Demirel, Leon Crico, Fabian Heß, Johanna Hoffmann, and Sebastian Pinter—are stepping into active roles immediately. The personnel will staff rescue stations located in Altena, Werdohl, Halver, and Meinerzhagen. As the official carrier of emergency rescue operations throughout the district, the Märkischer Kreis maintains oversight across six primary rescue stations and two specialized sub-stations.

District leadership, including Uwe Krischer (Leiter Regiebetrieb Rettungsdienst, Brand- und Bevölkerungsschutz), Stefan Egger (Fachdienstleiter Rettungsdienst Verwaltung), and Andrea Crico, zuständig für Aus- und Fortbildung im Rettungsdienst, formally congratulated the incoming specialists. Meanwhile, the district continues to expand its talent pipeline. A separate cohort of six new trainees began their initial orientation in October at the district’s fire protection and rescue center on the Rosmart in Altena, bringing the total number of individuals currently undergoing training at the Märkischer Kreis to nineteen.
Since 2018, fifteen candidates have successfully completed their paramedic certifications through the district’s structured pipeline.
