The code, discovered today, suggests the site owner is actively monitoring user behavior for targeted advertising campaigns.

The detected code snippet includes a function designed to initialize the Facebook Pixel and send data back to Facebook’s servers. Specifically, the code attempts to load the Facebook Pixel JavaScript library from https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/fbevents.js. The script also includes a fallback mechanism, utilizing setTimeout to initiate the pixel after a 1-second delay if the Fenrir library is unavailable.

Understanding the Facebook Pixel

The Facebook Pixel is a snippet of JavaScript code that website owners place on their pages to track visitor actions. This tracking allows advertisers to gain insights into the effectiveness of their Facebook ad campaigns and to build targeted audiences for future advertising.Data collected includes page views,add-to-cart events,purchases,and other custom events defined by the website owner.

According to Facebook’s own documentation (updated July 2024), the Pixel enables features like:
