Singaporean woman deported from Malaysia, Singapore News

Singaporean Deported From Malaysia Amidst Wider Immigration Crackdown

Authorities in Malaysia have deported a Singaporean national early this month, marking the latest in a series of expulsions targeting foreign nationals found to be in violation of immigration laws.

First August Deportee Identified

The Singaporean woman departed Malaysia through the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex in Johor Bahru. Information regarding her age or the specific reasons for her deportation has not been disclosed by the Malaysian Immigration Department.

Broader Deportation Effort Underway

This incident occurs within a larger wave of deportations, with 53 individuals removed from Malaysia since the beginning of August. The group includes numerous nationalities, such as 36 Bangladeshis, 11 Thais, two Vietnamese, two Indonesians, and one Chinese national.

Deportees Barred From Re-entry

The Malaysian Immigration Department confirmed that all deported individuals were responsible for their own repatriation expenses. Furthermore, the department stated, All deportees were blacklisted and are barred from re-entering Malaysia for a stipulated period.

Previous Singaporean Deportations Cited

This is not the first instance of Singaporeans being deported. On January 19, two Singaporean men were sent back after completing prison sentences for various offenses, including immigration law violations. The Johor Immigration director, **Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus**, noted at the time that such deportees face a minimum five-year re-entry ban.

Stricter Border Control Measures

Malaysia has been intensifying its border control measures. In 2023, the Immigration Department of Malaysia reported deporting over 10,000 individuals for various offenses, highlighting a commitment to enforcing national immigration policies.
