Singapore to Host 2026 MotoGP Season Launch
Singapore has been confirmed as the location for the 2026 MotoGP season launch, marking the first major event of its kind under the new ownership of Liberty Media. The decision, finalized in meetings held in Barcelona, prioritizes logistical feasibility and financial considerations for teams as they prepare for the season opener on March 1st in buriram, thailand.
The selection of Singapore follows consideration of other potential venues, including Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne. while Melbourne was strongly considered, it presented significant logistical challenges and financial strain for teams.Singapore offers a more practical balance, easing the burden on smaller teams while providing a high-profile platform for the sport’s launch. This launch will be the first under Liberty Media, the commercial rights holder of Formula 1, which recently acquired Dorna Sports, the previous owner of MotoGP.
The timing of a second preseason test remains undecided, with options including proceeding directly to Buriram after the launch or scheduling it approximately ten days later.A later test would allow more time for bike updates but could increase financial pressure on teams. The February schedule was finalized during meetings in Barcelona.
Liberty Media previously staged a collective formula 1 presentation in London earlier this year, tho F1 teams will return to individual launches in 2026.
