Singapore Bus Incident: Unresponsive Man Vaping Found Bleeding – SMRT Update

Unresponsive Passenger Found Vaping on SMRT Bus, Journey suspended

A routine SMRT bus journey took a dramatic turn on the evening of July 1 when a passenger was discovered unresponsive and holding an e-cigarette. The incident, which occurred on bus service 110 on the Tampines Expressway (TPE) between 5:30 PM and 6:10 PM, led to the suspension of the bus service and the transfer of other passengers to a different vehicle.

According to a witness, identified as Stomper D, the man appeared to be vaping throughout the entire journey.Another passenger alerted the bus captain, who then stopped the bus to check on the individual. The man was found to be bleeding and unresponsive,yet still vaping.SMRT Buses Deputy Managing Director Vincent Gay confirmed the incident, stating that the bus captain was alerted to the unconscious passenger while the bus was stationary at a bus stop on the TPE towards Punggol. The bus captain immediately provided assistance and remained with the passenger until emergency services arrived.

The Singapore Civil Defense Force confirmed that the man was transported to Sengkang General Hospital. All other passengers were safely transferred to another bus to continue their journey. SMRT Buses urged passengers to report any such incidents to their staff immediately.

The Health Sciences Authority has previously warned that e-vaporisers contain harmful chemicals, and the purchase, possession, and use of imitation tobacco products, including e-vaporisers, are prohibited.
