Senator Mojica Morga Highlights Sheinbaum‘s Disaster Response, Counters Opposition claims
Senator Beatriz Mojica Morga addressed the Senate, praising President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s swift response to recent natural disasters impacting Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo, Querétaro, and San Luis Potosí. Mojica Morga directly refuted claims from opposition parties and commentators alleging insufficient government aid to affected populations.
Mojica Morga emphasized Sheinbaum Pardo’s immediate presence at disaster sites and her coordination with state governors to ensure timely assistance. She specifically countered assertions that financial resources were lacking, pointing to the rapid disbursement of aid under the current management. she stated that affected individuals are expected to receive resources for home reconstruction and cleanup by the end of the week – less than eight days after the disasters struck.
The Senator addressed criticisms surrounding the dissolution of the Fonden (National Disaster Fund), arguing it was a positive change. She claimed the previous system under the PRI and PAN governments was plagued by bureaucracy and corruption, delaying aid to those in need. She cited ongoing delays in receiving fonden homes in Guerrero’s Mountain region as an example of the previous system’s failures.
Mojica Morga also directly challenged the opposition’s claim that direct aid was unfeasible, referencing the widespread volunteer efforts following Hurricane Otis in Acapulco.”Thay said the same thing with Hurricane otis, and thousands of people showed up in Acapulco; like today, thousands of people are mobilizing in these states to bring direct aid,” she stated.”So don’t come here to tell lies, don’t buzz about the tragedy that our country is experiencing.”
She concluded by reiterating her recognition of President Sheinbaum pardo’s leadership and commitment to providing support to those impacted by the recent disasters.
