Shangri-La Frontier Game Media Presentation Report at TGS 2026 with Enako
Netmarble Reveals Shangri-La Frontier at Tokyo Game Show
Netmarble rolled out the media presentation for its upcoming smartphone and PC game Shangri-La Frontier: Seven Supreme Species on September 17, 2026, marking a major showcase on the opening business day of the Tokyo Game Show 2026, according to a report by the outlet Saiga NAK.
Core Mechanics of the Switch-Battle RPG
The software adapts the popular intellectual property Shangri-La Frontier, which originally launched as a web novel before expanding into manga and anime adaptations.
The presentation detailed four primary features of the new switch-battle role-playing game. Players command two alternating characters in combat, employ straightforward one-handed controls paired with strategic battle elements, and take on unique monsters known as the Seven Supreme Species alongside other players. The title adapts the source narrative by putting players in the shoes of the protagonist, Sunraku, as he logs into the virtual reality game.
Live Demonstration by Cosplayer Enako
Following the initial reveal, cosplayer Enako stepped onto the stage wearing a red dress to run the first public hands-on playtest of the software. Playing through the story mode, Enako navigated a sequence set beneath cherry blossoms where the characters face the unique monster Wazaemon, backed by voice acting performances from the cast.
During the tutorial battles, Enako swapped between characters and executed combo attacks via slide operations to take down a snake-shaped boss character. Asked about the playthrough, Enako pointed out the range of actions accessible through tapping and shared excitement at seeing the characters move inside the game world.
Creators and Voice Cast Praise Interactive Game Experience
The showcase also showcased congratulatory messages from original author Koushiya Umi, manga artist Fuji Ryoji, and voice actor Yuma Uchida, who voices Sunraku. Koushiya Umi reflected on the rare journey of watching a story written as a novel transform through manga and anime into an interactive game controlled by a wider audience, while jokingly asking if the character Losers Woods was strong.
Fuji Ryoji emphasized that the game delivers experiences exclusive to the interactive medium that stand apart from reading the manga, letting fans step out of the role of observers and into the driver’s seat of the characters’ adventures. Yuma Uchida added that voice recording sessions pushed deeper into the universe to provide players with a richer sense of the setting.
Pre-Registration Openings and Incentives
Pre-registration for the title is currently active through the official website and X account. Promotional incentives feature an SSR-rank Sunraku character handed out to players, alongside milestone rewards tied directly to total registration numbers.
