Shane Mosley Jr vs Denzel Bentley: Middleweight Co-Main Event Set for London

Shane Mosley Jr. enters the Copper Box Arena in London this Saturday, November 7, for his UK debut against Denzel Bentley in a contest that carries the weight of a world title fight despite the absence of a belt. The co-main event at Zuffa Boxing 12 features two middleweights looking to redefine their standing in the division following significant administrative shifts within the sanctioning bodies.

Administrative Complications at the Middleweight Level

The matchup was initially thought to be for a version of the middleweight world title. However, the sanctioning body stripped the London native of his WBO middleweight title prior to the bout. A purse bid for Bentley’s mandated defense against Yoenli Hernandez occurred on September 29, which was won by Warriors Boxing for $200,000. An appeal from Bentley’s team remains before the WBO grievance committee, leaving the title status in flux as the fighter transitions to his new promotional home.

Despite the lack of hardware on the line, Mosley Jr. maintains that the caliber of the opponent dictates the significance of the event. Technically speaking, this is a title fight, right? Mosley Jr. stated. Yes, he’s not on paper a champion, but he was the WBO middleweight champion, and he got stripped before our fight. I still view him as a champion. Zuffa wanted me to fight a champion. I’m here.

Career Trajectories and Recent Performance

Bentley, 31, enters the ring with a 22-3-1 record and 18 knockouts. The Battersea native is a three-time British middleweight champion and former European champion. His most recent outing in April resulted in a seventh-round stoppage of Endry Saavedra. Bentley has secured two knockout victories in his previous two appearances at the Copper Box Arena.

Shane Mosley Jr., 35, holds a 23-5 record with 15 knockouts. Since his 10-round victory over Danny Jacobs in 2024, the Pomona, California native has sought to secure his own legacy separate from his Hall of Fame father. Mosley Jr. made his Zuffa Boxing debut in May at the Meta Apex, where he secured a sixth-round stoppage against Serhii Bohachuk. This bout against Bentley serves as his first professional appearance in the United Kingdom.

Zuffa Boxing Expands with Bentley and Cruiserweight Headliners

The bout is part of a broader expansion for Zuffa Boxing, which has signed Bentley to a multi-fight contract. The card is headlined by a cruiserweight clash between Chris Billam-Smith and Chev Clarke. The event also features a variety of prospects, including London-born cruiserweight Lucas Roehrig and Scottish middleweight Sam Hickey.

Viewers Can Stream the Event via Paramount+ or Sky Sports

Zuffa Boxing 12 will be available to viewers in multiple markets. In the United States and Canada, the event will stream exclusively on Paramount+, while viewers in the United Kingdom and Ireland can access the broadcast via Sky Sports. The undercard includes several notable matchups, such as Da’Mazion Vanhouter facing Ivan Balaz in the heavyweight division and super lightweight Kayla Allen returning to the ring for her second professional fight.

The resolution of Bentley’s appeal to the WBO remains pending, and a response from WBO president Gustavo Oliveiri is expected in the near future. For now, the focus for both Mosley Jr. and Bentley remains on the tactical execution of their co-main event as they prepare to face off at the Copper Box Arena.
