Shake Shack Expanding in Ontario with New Locations and First Province Drive-Thru

August 19, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

Shake Shack is expanding its Ontario footprint with three new locations slated for Oakville, Burlington, and London, a rollout that includes the American fast-food chain’s first-ever drive-thru in the province. According to announcements made by the company, the upcoming restaurants will occupy sites at 275 Hays Blvd. in Oakville, 4511 Dundas St. in Burlington, and 3275 Wonderland Rd. S. in London, with the London site introducing the drive-thru format to the local market.

Real Estate and Expansion Timelines

The operational rollout spans multiple fiscal periods. Shake Shack Canada confirmed that the Oakville and Burlington restaurants are scheduled to open in 2026, while the London location will follow in 2027. This physical expansion increases the brand’s retail density in the region, building upon existing Ontario sites that include Vaughan Mills, King West, Yonge-Dundas, Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Kitchen Hub Castlefield, Yonge-Eglinton, Square One Shopping Centre, and Union Station, as reported by CTV News.

Supply Chain Commitments and Menu Economics

Shake Shack stated that its new Ontario units will feature menus built on 100 percent premium Canadian ingredients, serving core items such as Angus beef burgers, Veggie Shacks, chicken sandwiches, crinkle-cut fries, hand-spun shakes, and frozen custard.

Billy Richmond, business director of Shake Shack Canada, noted in a public statement that the company aims to scale its signature hospitality and quality-driven model into these communities.

Comparative Market Strategy: Ontario versus Alberta

This Canadian expansion follows a broader national strategy that includes a recent milestone in Western Canada. Alberta’s first Shake Shack debuted at Chinook in Calgary in May, quickly followed by the announcement of a second Calgary location at 9253 Macleod Tr. S.W. featuring the country’s first drive-thru format for the brand, set to open in late August with Alberta-exclusive menu items like the Prairie Berry Shake.

While the Calgary drive-thru introduces localized artistry via an exterior mural painted by local artist Larissa Schuler, the Ontario expansion leans into suburban density along major commercial corridors like Hays Boulevard and Wonderland Road.
