Serious Crash on Brookwood Ave in Hillsboro Sends Driver to Hospital | CUT News

One person was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash near the Hillsboro Airport Friday afternoon and transported to a hospital via medical helicopter, according to Hillsboro Fire & Rescue.

The incident occurred on Northeast Brookwood Avenue near Airport Road. Firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle leaving the roadway, but the cause of the departure remains under investigation.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained life-threatening injuries, officials said. Firefighters worked to extricate the individual from the heavily damaged car, as documented in a post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Authorities temporarily closed the northbound lanes of Brookwood Avenue to facilitate the landing and departure of the Life Flight helicopter. Southbound lanes remained open as of 4:20 p.m. Friday.

The Life Flight Network recently announced plans to establish a 24/7 transport base at the Hillsboro Airport, a development expected to enhance emergency medical services in the region. The new base is slated to become fully operational in the coming months, according to a statement released by the Forest Grove News-Times.

This incident comes after a separate incident on Saturday where residents were displaced and four pets died in house fires in Hillsboro and Vancouver, according to OregonLive.com.
