Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 5 Launch with User-Replaceable Batteries
Sennheiser tackles the disposable earbud crisis
Sennheiser is preparing to launch its Momentum True Wireless 5 earbuds, introducing a feature long absent from the modern audio market: user-replaceable batteries for both the earpieces and the charging case.
The new model arrives on September 3. Pricing sits at approximately 276 euros, according to Services Mobiles, while ITdaily reports a tag of around 299.90 euros.
This engineering shift lets users swap out aging power cells within minutes using a simple, compact screwdriver. It directly targets a frustrating industry norm where expensive wireless earbuds routinely become electronic waste the moment their batteries degrade.
Extended battery life and a slimmer silhouette
Beyond repairability, the hardware delivers up to 12 hours of playback on a single charge. That figure climbs to a total of 40 hours when factoring in the charging case.
When running low, a quick-charge feature delivers one hour of listening time after an eight-minute charge on power.
ITdaily notes that the updated design relies on data gathered from thousands of ear shapes. The result is a slimmer silhouette that 73% of test users found more comfortable than the previous generation. Meanwhile, the charging case adopts a narrower profile built specifically for pocket storage.
Advanced microphones and adaptive noise cancellation
For calls and audio processing, the Momentum True Wireless 5 incorporates six microphones and two bone-conduction voice accelerometers. An artificial intelligence algorithm works behind the scenes to isolate the human voice in loud environments, according to ITdaily.
Services Mobiles adds that the device utilizes a hybrid adaptive active noise cancellation system paired with a four-microphone array. A real-time transparency mode rounds out the acoustic suite.
Cutting-edge connectivity and robust durability
Audio architecture is anchored by 7mm TrueResponse transducers. Under the hood, Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity meets support for Snapdragon Sound.

This pairing enables aptX Lossless playback alongside a dedicated low-latency mode, according to ITdaily. To handle daily wear, the hardware carries an IP54 certification for resistance against dust, sweat, and water splashes.
