Senior Falls: Prevention, Risks & Support | News & Resources
Amnéville, France – The Carsat Alsace-Moselle is offering twelve free sessions designed to help residents aged 55 and over prevent falls, beginning April 13th and running through May 21st. The initiative, announced on March 17th, aims to promote the health and well-being of seniors by providing opportunities to maintain activity and good health, according to Carsat Alsace-Moselle President Allison Masci.
The sessions will be held at Greenhouse Sport & Nutrition, with classes scheduled for 11:00 AM and 3:15 PM. Masci stated, “By investing in prevention, we can contribute to improving the quality of life.” Interested individuals can register by contacting Allison Masci directly at 03 87 72 10 10 or 06 72 69 38 37.
The program comes as falls among seniors are increasingly recognized as a significant public health concern. While national statistics regarding fall-related deaths were not provided, the Carsat Alsace-Moselle initiative reflects a growing awareness of the need for preventative measures.
The Centre Communal d’Action Sociale (CCAS) of Amnéville also provides support for seniors, including a “seniors en vacances” program in partnership with the Association Nationale des Chèques Vacances (ANCV). This program offers financial assistance to eligible seniors and individuals with disabilities to help cover the costs of a vacation. The CCAS also organizes regular goûters (snacks) for residents over 65, held bi-monthly in Amnéville and weekly in Malancourt, and offers a choice between a Christmas gift or participation in a year-finish dinner, and dance.
Local agencies, such as APEF Mondelange, also provide in-home assistance to seniors in Amnéville, offering services ranging from housekeeping and meal preparation to personal care and transportation. APEF Mondelange can be reached at 03 72 05 00 10. The agency is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
