SEATTLE – The Seattle Sounders claimed the 2025 Leagues Cup title, defeating Inter Miami 3-0 in front of a record-breaking crowd of 69,314 fans. Goals from Osaze De Rosario, Alex Roldan, and Paul Rothrock secured the victory for Seattle, adding another trophy to their impressive collection.
This Leagues Cup triumph marks the Sounders’ ninth major championship since joining Major League Soccer in 2009, solidifying their position as a dominant force in North American soccer.The win also denies Inter Miami, the 2023 Leagues Cup champions, a repeat title and underscores Seattle’s resurgence as a top contender.
De Rosario opened the scoring in the 26th minute, heading in a cross from Roldan. Roldan extended Seattle’s lead in the 84th minute, converting a penalty earned after a foul on Georgi Minoungou. Rothrock then sealed the result in the 89th minute, adding a third goal for the Sounders.
Despite the loss,Inter Miami created several opportunities,especially in the second half. Lionel Messi and Tadeo Allende were unable to convert chances set up by Luis Suárez.Seattle’s victory adds to their existing silverware: four U.S. Open Cups,two MLS Cups,one Concacaf Champions Cup,and one Supporters’ Shield.
