Peel Regional Police are conducting an underwater search for a man missing after a canoe capsized Saturday night at the Heart Lake Conservation Area in Brampton.
Emergency crews responded to reports of the incident around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, when a man and a woman were spotted in distress in the water. Firefighters were able to rescue the woman from the lake; she was subsequently evaluated by paramedics and confirmed safe by police.
The search for the second occupant of the vessel continued through Sunday. The Peel police marine unit is leading the underwater operations at the scene, with additional support provided by Brampton Fire crews.
