Sutton Nears New Broncos Deal
Contract Talks Progressing With Star Receiver
Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton is on the verge of signing a new contract, a development that follows his optimistic outlook from earlier this offseason.
Contract Imminent
Head coach Sean Payton confirmed Monday that an agreement between the Broncos and Sutton is close. Sutton has participated in training camp but has been sidelined from team drills while negotiations proceed.
He is currently slated to earn $14.1 million in the final year of his current deal, an extension he signed back in 2021.
Career Year Fuels Negotiations
Last season marked a career high for Sutton, who hauled in 81 receptions for 1,081 yards and scored eight touchdowns. His performance was instrumental in the Broncos’ return to the playoffs for the first time since Super Bowl 50.
In 2023, NFL wide receivers signed an average of $19.17 million per year on their new deals, highlighting the market value for top pass-catchers (OverTheCap).
