Sean Dyche Sacked: Nottingham Forest Manager Out After Wolves Draw | Latest Updates

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Nottingham Forest has sacked head coach Sean Dyche following a goalless draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the City Ground, the club confirmed on Thursday.

The decision comes after a run of poor form that leaves Forest battling to avoid relegation from the Premier League. Despite dominating possession and registering 35 shots against Wolves, Forest failed to find the back of the net, a result that proved decisive for Dyche’s future.

The club’s statement, released shortly after the final whistle on Wednesday night, was brief, offering no specific reasons for the dismissal.

Nottingham Forest have swiftly identified Vítor Pereira as a strong candidate to replace Dyche, according to reports from The Athletic and other news outlets. Pereira, a Portuguese manager, is currently unattached and has previously managed in Portugal, Greece, Turkey and Argentina. Talks are reportedly underway with the former Porto and Fenerbahçe coach.

The sacking marks a swift end to Dyche’s tenure at the City Ground, having taken over in December 2023. His departure is the latest in a period of instability for the club, which has seen a high turnover of managers in recent years.

BBC Sport reports that Forest are in discussions with Pereira to take over the managerial role. RealGM similarly confirms that Pereira is the targeted replacement.

As of Thursday afternoon, Nottingham Forest had not commented on the ongoing negotiations with Pereira or provided a timeline for the appointment of a modern head coach.
