Sean Diddy Combs Prison Release Date Moved Up Again

Sean “Diddy” Combs will leave federal prison on February 23, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website. The update marks an earlier release date than previously scheduled for the music mogul, who is currently serving a 50-month sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey following his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

A Shifting Prison Timeline at FCI Fort Dix

The revised timeline is the latest in a string of adjustments recorded by federal authorities. Earlier this year, public records tracked by People magazine listed his release for April 15, 2028. That followed prior dates of April 25, 2028, and June 4, 2028.

According to The Independent, FCI Fort Dix officials explained that inmate release dates frequently shift due to Federal Time Credits earned under the First Step Act. The legislation allows incarcerated individuals to reduce their sentences by participating in evidence-based recidivism reduction programming. Combs has been attending the drug-abuse rehabilitation program at the New Jersey facility.

Mann Act Conviction and Continuous Legal Challenges

Combs was sentenced last year following a high-profile trial. He was convicted of transportation to engage in prostitution under the federal Mann Act, while escaping more severe charges of racketeering and sex trafficking that could have carried a life sentence. In addition to his prison term, he was fined $500,000.

Since his conviction, his legal defense team has mounted continuous challenges in federal court. In April, defense attorneys appeared before federal appeals court judges to argue for a complete reversal of the conviction or a reduced resentencing. Their written arguments maintain that videos of sexual encounters between Combs’s girlfriends and male sex workers constituted amateur pornography protected by the First Amendment, asserting that the term prostitution should exclude voyeuristic and expressive activity. Federal prosecutors countered in court filings that creative or staged sex acts do not elevate the conduct to a free speech issue.

Transfer to New Jersey and Denials of Custody Rumors

Combs was transferred to the low-security Fort Dix facility in late October from the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York. Shortly after his arrival, prison representatives forcefully denied internet rumors that he had consumed homemade alcohol in custody. A spokesperson emphasized to the press that self-discipline and sobriety remain priorities for the Bad Boy Records founder.

Subsequent public images published by TMZ and reported by Page Six showed Combs wearing prison-issued grey sweatpants and a matching pullover inside a facility corridor.
