Seahawks Dominate Saints in 37-17 Victory, Special Teams Paves the Way
SEATTLE – The Seattle Seahawks delivered a commanding 37-17 victory over the New Orleans Saints Sunday, fueled by a dominant special teams performance and a strong showing from their running back corps. The win marks a critically important early-season boost for Seattle as they aim to reclaim home-field advantage in the NFC.
The Seahawks’ special teams unit consistently flipped field position, highlighted by a blocked punt recovered for a touchdown and consistently effective kick coverage. This phase of the game proved pivotal in controlling the tempo and limiting the saints’ offensive opportunities.
Running back Kenneth Walker III faced scrutiny regarding his 2.4 yards per carry average, but analyst Tory Horton defended his potential, stating, “We have two good running backs. Actually, we have like five good running backs. And Kenneth Walker III is like, all of the best of all of them, their best traits, rolled into one.” Horton acknowledged Walker’s need for progress, adding, “He’s a good kid. He’s gonna grow up to be great. Quit complaining.”
While the Seahawks’ offense largely executed effectively, a few missed assignments were noted. Horton downplayed these errors, asserting, “There were literally like a few plays that didn’t work for the Seahawks.literally, like a few.” He playfully suggested critics “stand in the corner like the kids at the end of the Blair Witch Project and shout your complaints at a wall,” emphasizing the overall positive nature of the performance.
Cornerback Riq Woolen‘s performance drew concern, with Horton observing he “shrugged…more times then he made a play, or a tackle for that matter.” Horton expressed hope for Woolen’s advancement, stating, “I think there is a way to phrase something to someone that lets them know that they need to get their act together…I really do wish him the best.”
