Scattered showers and storms around today and Thursday

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A warm front is crossing through Northeast Ohio today which is aiding in more humidity as well as an increased chance for rain and storms.

We have been monitoring storms out over Lake Erie this afternoon as a better potential for our lakeshore communities to see scattered rain and rumbles through the afternoon.

If you are a boater, a heads up that waterspouts are possible with any stronger storm that develops over the lake today.

In general, we do not anticipate storms to turn strong to severe this afternoon across Northeast Ohio. One or two storms could certainly produce tropical downpours and lightning along with some gusty winds, but the overall severe risk is low today.

Thursday looks to start off on a dry note, but as a cold front crosses the area Thursday, this will spark another round of showers and storms. This front will unlock high heat and humidity to begin the weekend with daytime highs once again aiming for the low 90s. A stray shower or storm is possible during the afternoon and evening. Rain chances will increase as a cold front approaches Sunday. Widespread showers and storms look likely as the front passes Sunday afternoon.

Some lingering rain showers will be possible Monday as the front continues to clear the region. At this time, it looks like temperatures maintain seasonable standards into early next week.
