Scarlett Moffatt to Sparkle on the Strictly Christmas Dance Floor
Scarlett Moffatt will be the first celebrity to compete on the 2025 Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, it was announced on Friday, November 21st, during a surprise appearance on BBC Two’s Strictly: It Takes Two. Moffatt was a guest on the show’s Friday Panel when the news was revealed.
The television personality and presenter will be partnered with professional dancer Vito Coppola as she takes to the ballroom this December. Moffatt first gained recognition alongside her family on the Channel 4 show Gogglebox, and later won I’m A celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in 2016. Her presenting credits include six series of the BBC Sounds podcast Scarlett Moffatt Wants To Believe,Streetmate,the Channel 4 documentary Britain’s tourette’s Mystery: Scarlett Moffatt Investigates,and 30 episodes of Love bites. She has also appeared on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp, Celebability, Crufts Extra, and scarlett Moffatt’s Driving School. Moffatt is also a published author, with two books to her name: Scarlett Says (a Sunday Times Number One bestseller) and Me Life Story: Sofa So Good.
“Strictly has always held a special place in my heart, so being part of the Christmas special feels truly magical,” Moffatt stated. “It’s the show that brings everyone together around the TV, and being part of that is a genuine personal and career highlight. I’m sure it’ll also introduce me to a few muscles I didn’t know I had. I can’t wait to live my best life on that dancefloor.”
Six couples will compete for the title of Strictly Christmas Champion in this year’s special. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will host the festivities for the final time, while Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke will comprise the judging panel. The voting studio audience will ultimately decide the winner.The special promises festive group dances, live music, and a ”winter wonderland” atmosphere.
The next celebrity contestant will be announced on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Scott Mills on Monday, November 24th.
The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special is a BBC Studios Entertainment Production for the BBC, commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC. Sarah James is the Executive Producer for BBC Studios, with Kim Allinson serving as the Christmas Series Editor, and Jo Wallace as the Senior Commissioning Editor for the BBC.
The special will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this Christmas.
