Savannah Guthrie’s Mother: Kidnapping, Search & Latest Updates

February 16, 2026 Lucas Fernandez – World Editor World

Savannah Guthrie, co-host of NBC’s “Today” show, released a fresh video Sunday appealing to the kidnappers of her 84-year-ancient mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing since February 1st. The video, posted to Instagram, is the latest in a series of pleas from Guthrie and her family for Nancy’s safe return.

“It’s been two weeks since our mom was taken, and I just wanted to reach on and say we still have hope, and we still believe,” Guthrie said in the video. “And I wanted to say to whoever has her, or knows where she is, that it’s never too late. And you’re not lost or alone. And We see never too late to do the right thing. And we are here. We believe. And we believe in the essential goodness of every human being. And it’s never too late.”

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the evening of January 31st, having dinner with her other daughter, Annie Guthrie, and Annie’s husband. Authorities believe she was abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona, overnight. The FBI is leading the investigation.

Last week, the FBI released images and video footage captured by a Google Nest camera outside Nancy Guthrie’s front door. The footage shows a suspect described as being approximately 5 feet 9 inches or 5 feet 10 inches tall, of average build, wearing a ski mask, gloves, and a black, 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack, sold exclusively at Walmart. Investigators have been reviewing security footage from a Walmart location in Tucson, though Walmart corporate has declined to comment on the investigation.

A black glove found near Nancy Guthrie’s home is likewise being analyzed. The FBI stated Sunday that the glove appears to match those seen in the surveillance video and contains DNA evidence currently undergoing testing. The glove was discovered in a field alongside a road approximately three kilometers from Nancy Guthrie’s residence.

Family members have publicly stated their willingness to pay a ransom for Nancy Guthrie’s release, according to reports. Savannah Guthrie, along with her brother and sister, have repeatedly emphasized their commitment to securing their mother’s safe return.

The FBI continues to analyze thousands of tips received from the public. As of February 15th, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
