Savannah Guthrie’s Mother: Family Pleads for Clues in Missing Person Case

March 22, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Tucson, Arizona – The family of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “TODAY” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, expressed profound gratitude Saturday to the Tucson community for its support during the seven-week search for the missing woman, while simultaneously renewing their plea for information that could lead to her safe return.

In a statement released through NBC affiliate KVOA, the Guthrie family thanked neighbors, friends, and residents of Tucson for an “outpouring” of support, stating, “We are all family now.” The family specifically requested that community members review any security camera footage and revisit their memories for details potentially relevant to the case, focusing on the dates of January 11, January 31, and February 1.

“It’s possible a member of this community has information that they do not even realize is significant,” the family said. “No detail is too small. It may be the key.”

Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her Tucson home on the night of January 31, and reported missing on February 1. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has stated that investigators believe her disappearance was a targeted kidnapping, and that evidence found at the scene, including blood on the porch, supports that theory. A masked individual was captured on doorbell surveillance video in the area around the time of her disappearance, and authorities have been seeking to identify this person of interest.

The case has drawn national attention, with the FBI joining the investigation and offering a $50,000 reward in addition to the $1 million offered by the Guthrie family for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s recovery. A special report on the case, “Bring Her Home – The Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie,” aired Saturday on KVOA, featuring interviews with former colleagues who spoke to Nancy Guthrie’s impact on the Tucson community.

According to CNN, the intense media and law enforcement presence has unsettled the typically quiet Catalina Foothills neighborhood where Guthrie resided. Some residents have reportedly begun discussing home security upgrades in response to the case.

The Guthrie family emphasized their anguish in their statement to KVOA, saying, “We miss our mom with every breath and we cannot be in peace until she is home. We cannot grieve. People can only ache and wonder. Our focus is solely on finding her and bringing her home. We want to celebrate her beautiful and courageous life. But we cannot do that until she is brought to a final place of rest.”

Sheriff Nanos previously cleared members of the Guthrie family, including Nancy Guthrie’s three children and their spouses, as potential suspects in the case, according to the New York Times. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities continuing to seek leads and analyze evidence.
