Milan, Italy – A rare evening of avant-garde artistry is set to unfold October 9th at the Milanese Refrigerators, a unique cultural space in the Carroponte district. The event will feature a live performance accompanying a screening of René Clair’s 1924 Dadaist film, Entr’acte, with original music by Erik Satie.
The performance offers a glimpse into a pivotal moment in artistic history, bridging the gap between music, cinema, and the burgeoning Surrealist movement. attendees will experience Satie’s provocative score brought to life alongside clair’s deliberately chaotic and groundbreaking film, notorious for its scandalous premiere featuring lights directed at the audience and projected insults. Pianists Alessandro Comellato, Edoardo Fadda, Joy Soetto, and marco Autelli will alternate on stage, while Ivan Cenzi will provide historical and artistic context.
The programme centers on Entr’acte,a film conceived as an anti-narrative response to conventional cinema,and originally presented with music by Satie. The composer, known for works like Parade (with a booklet by Francis Picabia), challenged artistic norms and embraced innovation.
