Saros: PC Release in Doubt as Sony Reconsiders PC Gaming Strategy | PS5 News

March 27, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Sony’s highly anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusive, Saros, developed by Housemarque, is slated for release on April 30th, but its potential availability on PC remains uncertain. The ambiguity follows questions posed to the game’s director regarding a possible PC port.

During recent previews of the game, director Gregory Louden declined to comment on a PC release when questioned by Game Informer, stating, “Today we’re only going to talk about Saros and its launch on the PlayStation 5.” This response has fueled speculation, particularly in light of reports suggesting a shift in Sony’s strategy regarding PC releases.

According to reports from Bloomberg, Sony is reconsidering its approach to PC gaming and may not plan to release its major upcoming titles on the platform. This includes projects such as Ghost of Yotei, as well as Marvel’s Wolverine and Saros. This potential change marks a departure from Sony’s recent practice of bringing successful PlayStation titles, including God of War and Spider-Man, to Steam.

The silence from Sony and Housemarque comes after journalist Jason Schreier suggested the company might reveal its PC strategy alongside the marketing push for Saros. Schreier had previously indicated that Sony could confirm its new strategy when “Housemarque started to demonstrate Saros.”

Saros is a sci-fi roguelike shooter, drawing comparisons to Housemarque’s previous critically acclaimed title, Returnal. While a PC release for Returnal did eventually materialize, the current lack of confirmation for Saros leaves its future on PC unresolved.
