SAP Emarsys Rebrand: Introducing SAP Engagement Cloud | CIO
SAP has rebranded its customer experience offering, formerly known as SAP Emarsys, as SAP Engagement Cloud, a move signaling the company’s intention to more deeply integrate the platform into its core enterprise infrastructure. The change, announced Monday, comes as SAP positions itself to capitalize on the growing demand for AI-driven customer engagement solutions.
The capabilities previously available within SAP Emarsys will continue to be offered as part of SAP Engagement Cloud, with SAP promising further enhancements to the platform. An “enterprise edition” of the cloud is as well being released, providing more advanced administration and governance features for larger organizations.
The rebranding addresses questions surrounding SAP’s customer engagement strategy following its acquisitions of both Qualtrics in 2018 and Emarsys in 2020. Both companies operated in overlapping segments of the customer experience market, leading to some uncertainty about how SAP would integrate and position them within its broader portfolio.
SAP describes SAP Engagement Cloud as a solution that connects enterprise data and artificial intelligence to orchestrate personalized interactions with customers in real-time. The platform aims to harmonize customer insights with operational signals, such as inventory levels and order status, to drive more relevant and effective engagement.
According to SAP, the Engagement Cloud is built on SAP Business Data Cloud and enables personalized interactions throughout the entire customer lifecycle. The company highlights the platform’s ability to turn data into actionable insights, accelerate execution with AI-powered tools, and scale operations securely using an API-first architecture.
The launch of SAP Engagement Cloud is intended to provide a unified system for managing customer interactions across marketing, sales, service, and commerce. SAP emphasizes the platform’s ability to connect experiences across the entire value chain, maximizing the lifetime value of each customer.
SAP Engagement Cloud is currently in beta testing and is scheduled for general availability in 2026. The company is positioning the platform as a key component of its Intelligent CX suite, which also includes solutions for commerce, customer data management, sales, and service.
