Santiago Metro Announces Route Adjustments Due to Line 2 Closures
Santiago,Chile – September 2,2025 – Commuters relying on Santiago’s Metro system should prepare for route changes as five stations on Line 2 will be temporarily closed for unspecified roadwork.The Santiago Metro announced alternative routes via Twitter today, outlining connection points to other lines to minimize disruption.
The closures impact travel for an estimated 300,000 daily riders, necessitating transfers at stations including La Cisterna, Vicuña Mackenna, adn Tobalaba. Metro officials advise passengers traveling from El Pino Hospital Station toward Line 3 to connect at La Cisterna via Line 4A, or alternatively, at Vicuña Mackenna via Line 4, continuing to Tobalaba for a transfer to Line 1.Another suggested route from El Pino Hospital toward Line 3 involves transferring at Vicente Valdés (Line 5) and then connecting to Line 3 at irarrazaval. These adjustments are intended to maintain connectivity throughout the network during the closure period.The Metro has not yet announced a completion date for the work.
