Fire Contained at Santiago de Cuba Thermoelectric Plant; No Injuries reported
Santiago de Cuba – A fire that broke out in teh fuel engine area of the Renté thermoelectric plant in Santiago de Cuba early Sunday morning has been extinguished, authorities reported. The fast response from the Ministry of Interior and collaborative efforts with other agencies prevented any casualties or injuries.
Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, the first secretary of the Communist Party in Santiago de Cuba, first announced the incident on her social media profiles. according to official statements, no deaths or injuries resulted from the fire. Provincial authorities immediately responded to the scene, joining firefighters and other agencies in a sustained effort to contain and extinguish the blaze.
Manuel Marrero Cruz, Cuba’s Prime Minister, confirmed the fire’s containment via a post on X (formerly Twitter) stating, “forces of @Minint_cuba with the participation of tank cars from other organisms, they managed to extinguish a fire occurred in the site of Fuel engines of the Tenté thermoelectric plant, in Santiago de Cuba.”
