Sandra Caron,⁣ Beloved ‘Carry On‘ Actress, Dies at 89

Sandra Caron, known for her role in ⁢the iconic⁣ ‘Carry On’ films and a memorable⁤ appearance on⁤ the⁢ original ‘The crystal Maze,’ has died at ⁣the age ⁢of 89. She passed away on September⁤ 1st, 2025, at cedars Sinai Medical Center following a six-week hospital ​stay ​related to extreme ‍weight loss⁤ and several falls, according to a⁤ statement released by Marc, son of ‌her husband,​ actor Brian Greene.

Caron achieved widespread​ recognition for her work in the 1969 ‘Carry On’ film, Carry On Camping, especially a ​celebrated scene featuring Barbara Windsor. She enjoyed​ a diverse acting career,⁣ with credits including roles in Digby, an episode of Charlie’s Angels, ‌and the 1968 film The Bliss of mrs Blossom. Her final on-screen⁢ appearance was in a 1995 episode of Agony Again ⁤ alongside Maureen ⁣Lipman.

Born the younger sister of popular singer,television,and radio personality Alma Cogan,Sandra ​initially sought ⁣to forge her own identity within the entertainment‍ industry. After training ⁣at ⁤the Aida⁤ Foster ‌Theatre School, she adopted the surname “Caron” as‌ a tribute to film star⁤ Leslie Caron, hoping to establish herself ⁢independently of her sister’s fame. She later penned a biography of alma, titled Alma Cogan: The Girl With The Laugh ⁤In Her voice. ‌Alma Cogan⁣ tragically died‍ of cancer in ‍1966, at the age of 34, having been‌ the highest-paid British female entertainer of her ‌time.

Sandra Caron and Brian Greene were married ⁤and resided⁢ in London before relocating to Los Angeles in 2015. They did⁤ not have children together.Mr. ‌Greene, 99, is currently residing in ⁤an assisted living facility. Following cremation, Sandra’s ashes are currently with her husband and the couple intends to‍ be interred together, likely at Mount Sinai, though final ‌arrangements are pending.

Throughout her career, Caron fondly remembered ‌her ‌friendships with fellow performers, particularly Barbara Windsor ⁤and Hattie Jacques, ​and frequently enough ​spoke of​ the enjoyable‍ experiences she shared ⁣with the “witty” Kenny Williams during her time working ‌on the ‘Carry On’⁣ series.
