SAN JOSE, CA – the San Jose Sharks announced today the recall of Slovakian forward Pavol Regenda from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda. The news was initially reported via the club’s social media channels.
Regenda, a native of Michalovce, Slovakia, has been a consistent performer for the Barracuda this season, amassing seven points – three goals and four assists – in 19 games played.
This marks Regenda’s first call-up to the NHL since a January trade saw him move from the Anaheim Ducks organization to the Sharks system in exchange for Justin Bailey. He will be looking to make an immediate impact wiht his new team.
The 25-year-old forward is potentially slated to make his debut with the Sharks on Tuesday night when they host a game against Utah, scheduled for 4:00 PM Central european Time (CET).
Regenda participated in his first practice with the San Jose Sharks on Monday evening (Slovak time), skating on the fourth line and featuring in the second power-play unit. This suggests the coaching staff is considering him for a meaningful role.
Prior to this recall, regenda had appeared in 19 NHL games, all with the Anaheim Ducks, where he recorded three points (one goal and two assists).his last NHL appearance was on March 17, 2024.
In related news, the Sharks have placed defenseman Vincent Desharnais on the injured reserve list. He was unable to participate in Saturday’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights due to an upper-body injury. Currently, San Jose holds the tenth position in the Western Conference standings.
