San Francisco Rugby Club Wins Home Game – Super 9 “B” 2026
The San Francisco Rugby Club secured a 17-5 victory over Alta Gracia Rugby Club on Saturday, marking their first win of the 2026 season in the Super 9 “B” competition of the Cordobesa Rugby Union.
The match, played at the San Francisco club’s Newbery Avenue grounds, drew a local crowd eager to see the “tricolor” team perform. The win signals an intent to contend within the league, improving upon their performance from the previous week where they competed as visitors.
The Cordobesa Rugby Union (UCR), established in 1931, governs rugby union within Córdoba province, Argentina. The UCR has experienced significant growth in recent decades, expanding from 19 clubs in the 1980s to approximately 40 today. The Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes, with a capacity of 57,000, serves as a venue for rugby matches within the province.
San Francisco’s defensive strength was a key factor in their victory against Alta Gracia. The win places them fifth in the Super 9 “B” standings. The team will next face Los Cuervos Rugby Club in Bell Ville in two weeks. Los Cuervos currently hold an undefeated record, having won both of their matches this season.
The UCR recently established a franchise, Dogos XV, to compete in Super Rugby Americas in 2023, demonstrating a growing ambition within the regional rugby landscape.
