San Diego Bird Alliance Hosts community bird Walk at Hollister Community Garden
san Diego, CA – The San Diego Bird Alliance will lead a free public bird walk this Saturday at the Hollister Community Garden, offering a unique opportunity to observe a diverse range of avian species in an urban oasis. The event promises close-up views of songbirds, raptors, and potentially the resident Black-throated Magpie Jays.
Located adjacent to the Tijuana River, the Hollister Community garden provides critical habitat for both endemic and migrating birds. The garden’s rich biodiversity, combined with the efforts of bird-loving gardeners who maintain feeders, creates an ideal environment for birdwatching. This event underscores the San Diego bird Alliance’s commitment to conservation through education and community engagement, particularly as urban development continues to impact local bird populations.
The garden itself features fruiting and flowering trees, shrubs, vegetables, and ornamental flowers, attracting a variety of birdlife.Wide, easily navigable dirt paths allow visitors of all levels to explore the garden and observe birds and plant life.
Participants are advised to wear safe shoes and bring water, a hat, and sunscreen. A light jacket is recommended depending on the whether.
