San Diego Shooting: 1 Killed in South Park – Monday Update

March 24, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

One person was fatally shot in San Diego’s South Park neighborhood Monday evening, according to the San Diego Police Department. The shooting occurred at the intersection of San Marcos Avenue and Kalmia Street, in the Burlingame area, at approximately 7:45 p.m.

Police reported that another individual at the scene was transported to a hospital. The condition of that person has not been released.

A witness who was jumpstarting his wife’s car at the time of the incident described hearing a loud crash. “I thought it was a car accident. It sounded like a deep crash. It didn’t sound like a high-pitched pistol or something like that,” the neighbor told NBC 7.

Authorities have not released any information regarding a potential suspect or motive. The investigation is ongoing and police have not provided a timeline for when further details will be available. NBC 7 reported that the area was quickly flooded with police vehicles following the shooting.

The San Diego Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. NBC 7 will continue to update the story as more information is confirmed.
