San Diego Comic-Con Málaga opens second edition smoothly
San Diego Comic-Con Málaga opened its second edition on October 1, 2026, at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga (FYCMA), running through October 4, 2026. diario sur reported that the opening day ran smoothly without the long queues, bottlenecks, or crowding that plagued the previous year’s event.
Expanded FYCMA Venue Fixes Opening Day Bottlenecks
Unlike the severe congestion that marked the inaugural 2025 event, opening day attendees experienced fluid access, short food lines, and easily accessible water stations, according to diario sur. Organizers structured the expanded layout to prevent bottlenecks, a change welcomed by visitors walking through the exhibition halls on the opening Thursday.
Higher Ticket Prices Shape Attendance and Fan Investment
Ticket pricing and availability shifted noticeably for the 2026 gathering. diario sur noted that general admission tickets increased by roughly 30 euros compared to the previous year, with El Mundo recording general daily entry at 84.80 euros and a four-year full event pass at 339.20 euros.
The higher cost influenced attendance patterns for some families, though the modified pricing structure contributed to a less crowded venue on the opening weekday.
Star-Studded Lineup Drives 300 Hours of Programming
Programming across the four-day schedule features more than 300 hours of content, panels, and artist sessions across expanded stages.
El Mundo detailed that high-profile sessions include a reunion of the television cast of Los Serrano, music performances by Akira Yamaoka and Animo celebrating Silent Hill, and appearances by actors Elijah Wood and Sean Astin on Sunday, October 4. Additional industry guests range from film director Kevin Smith to manga creator Yoichi Takahashi, alongside comic artists like John Romita Jr. and Jorge Jiménez.
Activations Stretch Beyond Convention Walls Into Málaga
The convention extends beyond the convention center walls into the wider city of Málaga.
ABC reported official Pokémon GO activation points established at Larios Centro for October 2 and 3, alongside symphonic anime concerts hosted at Espacio Sohrlin Andalucía.
