San Antonio Thunderstorms: Thousands Without Power

Over 3,000 CPS Energy customers in Bexar County are currently without power as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the⁤ utility company. The outages ⁢began around 2:30 p.m.⁤ and are ‌impacting ‍areas across ⁣the⁢ county,⁣ leaving residents and businesses ⁣grappling with disruptions. CPS Energy⁤ crews are working to determine the ⁤cause ⁣and restore service, but an estimated time for full‌ restoration has not yet been provided.

The widespread outages come amid rising⁤ temperatures, ⁢raising ‌concerns for ​vulnerable ‌populations ⁤and increasing the urgency⁤ of repairs. CPS Energy reports ⁤the affected areas are scattered throughout Bexar⁢ County, making pinpointing a⁢ single cause challenging. Customers are encouraged to report outages‌ and ​check for updates on the CPS Energy website or thru their ‌mobile app.

As of 3:45 p.m., CPS ‌Energy’s⁣ outage map showed 3,089 customers⁤ affected. The utility company stated ​via X (formerly​ Twitter) that they are aware​ of the situation and are dispatching crews to investigate‍ and resolve the issue. “we are aware of widespread ‍outages impacting customers in Bexar County. Crews are working to⁢ identify the cause and ‍restore power‌ as quickly and safely as possible,” ​the post read.

Customers without power ‍are advised to ‍take precautions, including avoiding downed power lines ⁤and using flashlights‌ instead of candles. CPS Energy provides resources ‍for outage preparedness and safety ​information on its website.
