Spurs Finalize Opening-Night Roster with Three Cuts
SAN ANTONIO, TX – October 21, 2023 – The San Antonio Spurs have officially set their roster for the upcoming NBA season, announcing Saturday the waiving of guards Adam Flagler and Stanley Umude, and forward Micah Potter. This move brings the team to the NBA-mandated maximum of 18 players ahead of Wednesday’s season opener.
The cuts, while not unexpected, finalize a competitive preseason evaluation process. Flagler showcased his skills in three preseason games, averaging 7.0 points and 3.0 assists. Umude, a San Antonio native and Warren High School alum, appeared in five preseason contests, contributing 5.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. Potter saw action in five games, posting averages of 2.8 points and 1.8 rebounds.
Currently, the Spurs roster comprises 13 players under full NBA contracts. Bismack Biyombo and lindy Waters III hold partially guaranteed deals, while David Jones Garcia, Harrison Ingram, and Riley Minix will fill the team’s three two-way player slots.
The Spurs will begin their season on Wednesday with a road game against the Dallas mavericks.
