Samsung Hearapy: New App to Combat Motion Sickness With Sound
Samsung has released a mobile application called Hearapy designed to mitigate the symptoms of motion sickness through the use of targeted sound frequencies.
The application operates by playing a 100Hz sinusoidal tone, which is specifically engineered to stimulate the vestibular system. This system, located within the inner ear, is responsible for the body’s sense of balance and spatial orientation. By utilizing this audio stimulation, the application aims to reduce nausea and other common symptoms associated with travel without the need for medication.
Operational Parameters and Usage
To utilize the technology, users are instructed to listen to the specific audio tone for 60 seconds before starting their journey. The application provides flexibility in session length, allowing users to adjust the duration of the sound exposure between 40 and 120 seconds based on their individual preferences.
Samsung claims that a single session of using the app can provide relief for a period of up to two hours. The procedure is designed to be repeatable, allowing users to restart the session as often as necessary to maintain the effect during extended travel.
Hardware Compatibility and Distribution
Hearapy is available for Android users via the Google Play Store. While the software is designed to function with Galaxy Buds, including the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, it is not limited to Samsung’s own hardware. The application is compatible with other audio devices and headphones, provided the hardware is capable of accurately reproducing the required frequency.
