Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2026: Live Launch of Galaxy S26 & AI Innovations

February 25, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Samsung Electronics unveiled its Galaxy S26 series at Galaxy Unpacked 2026 in San Francisco on Wednesday, February 25, marking the third generation of its Galaxy AI phone line. The launch event, livestreamed globally, showcased the new smartphones alongside updates to the Galaxy Buds series and a host of AI-powered software features.

The Galaxy S26 series comprises three models: the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Samsung emphasized a refined design aesthetic across the lineup, featuring rounded curvatures and a unified color palette. The Galaxy S26 Ultra, in particular, is 0.3 mm thinner than its predecessor and weighs 214 grams, enhancing portability without compromising grip.

A key innovation presented was the Privacy Display, debuting exclusively on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This feature limits side-angle viewing without requiring a screen protector, shielding on-screen content from onlookers. Developed over five years, the Privacy Display can be assigned to the side button’s double-press function for quick activation.

Samsung highlighted the Galaxy S26 series as combining the most powerful performance in Galaxy S series history with the most intuitive AI experience to date. The company is heavily invested in AI, with a focus on multi-agent capabilities integrating Bixby, Google Gemini, and Perplexity. The integration of these three assistants into a single device aims to provide users with a comprehensive AI experience.

Beyond the smartphones, Samsung too announced new Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro earbuds. Details regarding these devices were not immediately available, but they were presented as part of the broader ecosystem enhancements unveiled at the event.

The launch took place amidst ongoing challenges in the technology sector, including a shortage of key components like RAM and storage. This supply constraint may have influenced Samsung’s approach, resulting in incremental improvements to the Galaxy S26 series rather than radical redesigns. The company is expected to unveil its foldable devices later in the year.
