Samsung Galaxy S26: AirDrop Support Coming via Quick Share | Droid Life

Samsung confirmed on Friday that its forthcoming Galaxy S26 series will support Apple’s AirDrop file-sharing technology. The functionality will be integrated through Android’s existing Quick Share feature, according to a statement from Choi Won-Joon, Samsung’s MX Business Chief Operating Officer, delivered at a press conference in Japan.

The move brings Samsung into alignment with a feature long considered a hallmark of Apple’s ecosystem, allowing for seamless file transfers between iPhones and Macs. While Google initially enabled AirDrop compatibility for its Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 devices last year, Samsung’s commitment extends the feature to a wider range of Android users.

Won-joon Choi indicated that the AirDrop support will be rolled out to Galaxy S26 devices via a software update, with plans to expand compatibility to other Galaxy phones in the future. A specific timeline for the broader rollout remains unclear.

The announcement follows Google’s efforts to bridge the gap between Android and Apple’s file-sharing protocols. Android Police reported that Google expanded Quick Share compatibility last month, paving the way for wider adoption across the Android landscape.

Samsung’s decision to adopt AirDrop compatibility is expected to streamline file sharing for users who frequently interact with both Android and Apple devices. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is currently available with trade-in offers, including savings of up to $720 and a 15% discount on the Buds 4 series.
