Samsung Galaxy S26: AI Revolution & Should You Buy Now?

March 25, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy S26 series at an Unpacked event in San Francisco on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, marking a departure from the company’s typical launch schedule. The new lineup – consisting of the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra – will be available for retail purchase beginning March 11, 2026.

The launch represents a significant shift in Samsung’s release timing, arriving over a month later than the January 22, 2025, launch of the S25 series. According to sources, pre-orders are expected to open immediately following the Unpacked event. The company is maintaining the S25 series’ pricing structure, with the S26 series starting at $799, the S26+ at $999, and the S26 Ultra at $1,299.

The Galaxy S26+ features a 6.7-inch display, is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, and includes 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It operates on Android 16 and is guaranteed up to seven major software upgrades. The device also boasts a 4900 mAh battery and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It measures 190g and 7.3mm in thickness.

Key upgrades across the S26 series include brighter M14 OLED displays, larger batteries, and 60W charging capabilities for the Ultra model. Both the S26 and S26+ will utilize either the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or the Exynos 2600 processor. All models will ship with One UI 7, based on Android 15, and will receive seven years of software support.

The Galaxy S26 is positioned as the smallest and most affordable option within the series. Samsung has confirmed that the S26 series will receive seven years of software updates, addressing a key consumer demand for long-term device support.

As of March 25, 2026, Samsung has not commented on potential supply chain challenges or anticipated production volumes for the new series.
