Samsung Electronics Indonesia introduces Galaxy A08 to Indonesian market
Samsung Electronics Indonesia has officially introduced the Galaxy A08 to the Indonesian market, positioning the entry-level smartphone around a 6,000 mAh battery, artificial intelligence tools, and long-term software support. The device carries a starting price of Rp 2,999,000, with monthly installment options beginning at Rp 200 ribuan per bulan.
Annisa Maulina, MX Product Marketing Senior Manager Samsung Electronics Indonesia, stated during an online media session that the company targets the device toward users who rely heavily on mobile devices throughout the day. Internal studies cited by Samsung indicate that users of the Galaxy A Series spend more than 40 hours a week on platforms like TikTok and YouTube, alongside over 20 hours weekly on WhatsApp.
### Specifications and Hardware Features
The Galaxy A08 features a 6.7-inch PLS LCD display with a 720 x 1,600 pixel HD+ resolution, according to product details. The chassis measures 8 mm in thickness and weighs 197 grams, representing a slightly heavier and thicker build than its predecessor, alongside an upgrade to an IP64 rating for dust and water splash resistance. Color options include Dark Blue, Green, and Silver.
Under the hood, the smartphone runs on a MediaTek Helio G99+ processor built on a 6nm process node, paired with LPDDR5 RAM and internal storage up to 128 GB. Samsung claims the upgraded memory configuration offers data transfer speeds up to 30 percent faster than the LPDDR4X standard used previously.
For optics, the rear camera array houses a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary lens, while the front-facing punch-hole camera utilizes an 8-megapixel sensor. The device also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, and support via its USB-C port.
### AI Integration and Long-Term Support
Samsung has equipped the Galaxy A08 with multiple artificial intelligence features, including Circle to Search with Google, which lets users find information by circling items on the screen, as well as access to Gemini and Perplexity assistants. Hardware-level security is handled by Samsung Knox Vault to protect sensitive biometric data and passwords.
Running One UI based on Android 16 out of the box, the device comes with a commitment from Samsung for up to six generations of operating system upgrades and six years of security patches.

The Galaxy A08 is offered in two configurations:

Initial sales take place exclusively through the official Samsung shop on Shopee from September 26 through September 30, 2026, featuring promotional bundles that include a charging adapter, cable, earphone, clear case, AXIS data quota worth up to Rp 300,000, and Shopee coins. General retail availability across other sales channels in Indonesia is scheduled to begin on October 2, 2026.
