Salt Rock Mural Brightens Al’s Comics on Miracle Mile

A mural is underway on the south wall of Al’s Comics, located in the 1800 block of Pacific Avenue in Stockton, California. The artwork is being created by muralist “Salt Rock” Johnny B., as of January 13, 2025, according to local reports.

Al’s Comics has been a fixture in the Stockton community since 1979, serving generations of residents, and is located within the city’s Miracle Mile district. The mural project has garnered attention, including coverage from CBS Sacramento, as noted on a recent Facebook post.

The Miracle Mile Community Improvement District (MMCID), formed in 2023, is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the safety, security, appearance, and overall vitality of Stockton’s historical midtown. The district encompasses properties along Pacific Avenue from Alpine to Harding, and on Harding Way.

Al Greco, the owner of Al’s Comics, has operated his business for 40 years. The revitalization of the Miracle Mile area is an ongoing effort, with businesses like Al’s Comics playing a key role in the community.
