CDC Warns of salmonella Outbreak Linked to Member’s Mark Super greens powder
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is investigating a salmonella outbreak linked to Member’s Mark Super Greens powdered supplements containing moringa leaf powder. As of today, multiple illnesses have been reported across several states, prompting a warning to consumers and retailers. The CDC advises immediate cessation of sales and removal of the product from shelves.
This outbreak poses a particular risk to vulnerable populations-children under 5, adults 65 and older, and individuals with compromised immune systems-who are more likely to experience severe illness. Symptoms of Salmonella infection typically begin within 6 to 6 days of exposure and include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, lasting 4 to 7 days. While most recover without treatment, hospitalization is possible in severe cases.
The CDC urges consumers who have purchased Member’s Mark Super Greens powder to discard it immediately. Retailers are instructed not to sell or serve the product and to thoroughly wash and sanitize any surfaces or items that may have come into contact with it.
Salmonella is a common bacterial infection, but outbreaks linked to specific food products require swift action to prevent further spread. The CDC is continuing its investigation to determine the source of the contamination and provide further guidance. State health departments are available to answer questions regarding cases within their jurisdictions. Media inquiries should be directed to the CDC News Media Branch via the designated online form.
