Tesla Model Y Dominates Türkiye’s EV Market in June
But domestic Togg still leads in year-to-date sales
Despite a global sales downturn, Tesla made a huge splash in Türkiye’s electric vehicle market during June, leaving industry observers surprised. However, the overall picture for the first half of 2025 reveals a slightly different story.
June Sales: Tesla Takes the Lead
The Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD) recently released sales data showing the Tesla Model Y topping the charts in June with 7,235 units sold. This impressive figure demonstrates Tesla’s strong grip on the Turkish electric car market, even as its global sales have slumped.
Togg and BYD: Key Competitors
Türkiye’s own domestic EV, the Togg T10X, secured second place in June with 3,098 sales. Meanwhile, Chinese manufacturer BYD made a significant impact with three models:
- BYD Seal – 897 units
- BYD SEAL U – 886 units
- BYD Atto 3 – 875 units
The combined sales of these BYD models signal a growing presence for the brand in the Turkish market.
Other Popular EV Models in Türkiye
Several other electric vehicles also garnered attention from Turkish consumers in June:
- Citroen C3 – 936 units
- EV3 – 771 units
- MINI Countryman – 740 units
- KG Mobility Torres – 730 units
- Opel Fronter – 700 units
The variety of models on the list suggests that Turkish buyers value both practicality for city driving and the comfort of SUVs. Experts at Statista predict continued EV sales growth, estimating that over 30 million EVs will be sold worldwide in 2025 alone (Statista 2024).
First Half 2025: Togg Still Dominates
While Tesla’s June performance was remarkable, Togg maintains the overall sales lead for the first six months of 2025, with the best-selling brands being:
- Togg – 17,101 sales
- Tesla – 12,320 sales
- BYD – 10,401 sales
- The – 5,539 sales
- MINI – 5,521 sales
Although the domestic brand Togg remains on top for the year so far, Tesla is close behind. The rise of BYD could potentially shake up the rankings in the second half of the year.
