Saint-Laurent-du-Var Crash: 2 Critical Injuries in Motorcycle & Car Collision

February 21, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

A serious traffic collision in Saint-Laurent-du-Var, in the Alpes-Maritimes department of France, left two people critically injured on Friday evening, February 20, 2026. The incident, which involved a car and a motorcycle, occurred shortly before 5:00 PM local time on a coastal road.

According to initial reports from local authorities and news outlets including Nice-Matin, the two individuals seriously injured were both riding on the motorcycle. They have been transported to Pasteur 2 hospital in Nice for emergency treatment. The driver of the car, a 52-year-old man, was examined at the scene but did not require hospitalization.

The impact of the collision was described as “à forte cinétique” – of high force – by Nice-Matin, necessitating a large-scale response from emergency services. A total of 14 firefighters and five fire engines were dispatched to the scene to provide assistance and secure the area. Both national and municipal police forces were also present to manage traffic and begin an investigation.

The accident caused significant traffic disruption on the busy coastal route, reducing traffic flow to a single lane during the peak evening commute. Emergency responders worked to clear the scene and manage the resulting congestion.

The circumstances leading to the collision are currently under investigation by police. No further details regarding the cause of the accident have been released at this time.
