LOS ANGELES, CA – A ringing phone during a critical take on the set of an unnamed film starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds sparked a moment of unexpected tension, with Reynolds now calling the incident “inexcusable.” The actor recounted the story, revealing Washington briefly broke character due to the disruption, and even the stunt team paused their work to identify the source of the noise.
The incident, which occurred during filming, highlighted the intense focus required on set and the respect owed to fellow actors. Reynolds detailed how director Daniel Espinosa was the first to question the offending ringtone, asking, “Who the f–k’s phone is that?” Washington then echoed the question, and even stunt performers pretending to be deceased inquired about the interruption. Reynolds chimed in, adding, “Who the f–k’s phone is that? Inexcusable!”
reynolds revealed Espinosa, 48, ultimately realized his phone was the culprit and cleverly diverted Washington’s frustration by requesting a third take of the scene. Washington responded with, “We’re going to have to, aren’t we?” Reynolds added that the stuntmen were also relieved at the prospect of a reshoot.
